Cleansing: Trading deprivation for abundance.

Cleansing holds an interesting role in today's world of health. There are so many stories about what's healthy, what isn't healthy. Something that was good for you yesterday, is now the forbidden food. It's difficult to have an all-access membership to the Health Club if your a food. Organic vs non organic, processed vs natural, etc etc. So when the word 'cleanse' comes into the conversation, one can't help but to feel a little overwhelmed.

I've always been reasonably healthy, but since moving to LA i've packed on a good 10 lbs and I F E E L it. One of my good friends Sophie Jaffe, was doing a cleanse with her company PHILOSOPHIE. When I found out my friends were doing the cleanse, I winced a little, but wanted to jump on this health train for my body's sake. When I got the cleanse packet that Sophie sends out with all her cleanses, it was so organized and simple that I instantly got excited for this journey. When I began reading what my 5 day journey would look like, I was completely surprised (in the best way) that FOOD was included in this regimen.

The Philosophie cleanse gives you MORE options, MORE nutrients and MORE freedom to cleanse as you need. It really is totally up to you. In fact, depriving yourself of what you want is NOT encouraged. What IS encouraged is finding healthier alternatives for the things you love, and boy does Sophie have that down! There is a facebook support group where people share their struggles, successes and new recipes with one of the three super food powders that Sophie provides.

I'm a ravenous eater by nature, but on this 'cleanse' I did not feel hungry. Unhealthy food that I would typically crave was almost revolting. The best part? I'm still cleansing (as defined by Philosophie). I am eating healthier than before, trying new recipes and sticking to it because I feel amazing.
