The one good thing about California is that there are so many places to explore. There are a ton of hiking trails or interesting walks.
In fact, my roommate just bought a book called "Secret Stairs of Los Angeles" which will only increase the number of adventures we know about.
So, in the end, LA is not so bad but still never is nothing like walking from Soho to dinner at my favorite Indian place on 79th. Either way, it's a great way to start to get in shape. I'm just starting to get back into a routine after illness and injury.
