Things I Learned From One of My Best Friends

Things I Learned From One of My Best Friends

Today is Sophie Kuller's birthday. If you don't know who she is by now then you don't read my blog very well. There was so much I wanted to say when trying to write a draft of birthday wishes on Facebook or Instagram that I decided this was best. It kept being far too long because in this 6 year friendship, I think I've learned the most from her. I wish I could celebrate with her today but this may be the closest I get. So, instead of my more traditional postings of well wishes, I'm going to share a bit. Here it is, everything I've learned from Sophie Kuller.

  • Friendships that last don't know distance.
  • Work hard and work smart.
  • Get silly.
  • Don't let life change who you truly are deep inside.
  • Life is going to throw you serious curveballs so lean on the ones around you.
  • Take a picture of every FJ (it's a habit now).
  • If you beg for food after a kitchen is closed, you'll find risotto.
  • Say YES to every adventure.
  • Always find the best tacos.
  • Always find the best whisky and keep trying until you do.
  • There's nothing I won't do for a good friend.
  • Some sunsets are worth forgetting the time to see.
  • There's no time for crappy friends.
  • Stop being so AFRAID TO LIVE.
  • Life hurts but you're always going to be enough to handle it.
  • Love hard.
  • Laughing is required.
  • Some people meet their soul mate in high school.
  • The Jelly Bean game.
  • I'm actually much more of a nature person than I knew.
  • It's better to live off-line.
  • I feel at home in front of a camera.
  • Irn Bru is fucking awful.
  • Some people love my snaggle tooth.
  • But get REALLY silly.
  • Binge watching is better when you can talk it over with your bestie (When is The O.A. back?)
  • Hugs cure almost anything.
  • Be weird.
  • The best souvenirs are at vintage shops.
  • The Kullers are the coolest family I know.
  • You make my least favorite city tolerable.
  • Talent oozes from her pores.
  • Just because talent oozes from someone's pores doesn't mean they expect anything for free or have an ego.
  • Traveling with friends is the best especially if Sophie is one of them.
  • Sometimes love is right in front of you.
  • I'll always have a nonjudgemental loving word of advice on the other side of the phone.
  • Sometimes your friend can also be your team mate. Working together has been a dream.
  • It's better when your dog has a best friend to play with too.
  • You can pretty much organize any reason to get together for the sake of your puppy children.
  • You should be free and brave.
  • Watching someone else's courage is enough to help you work up your own.
  • There is no physical or metaphorical mountain I can't climb.
  • I don't need to be perfect all the time.
  • I'm unconditionally loved by those who truly know me.

Happy Birthday Sophie. I love you always. I am humbled by your talent. I am honored and blessed to call you one of my best friends. I hope to have a million more adventures together. For some reason, I could find our old school NYC photos but maybe that's a good thing?
